DRAFT for attorney review before public launch. This policy is written to describe the service as it is actually built today. If a practice changes, this page must change first or at the same time, never after.
1. The short version
Celibae collects the information a small dating service needs to run: who you are as a member, the profile you choose to show, and the conversations you choose to have. We do not sell personal information. We do not run advertising trackers. We never create fake members, so every profile you see belongs to a real person who joined.
2. What we collect
On the waitlist: your email address, your city, the referral code if a friend's link brought you, how you arrived (for example a campaign name in the link), and, only if you choose to answer, your reason for choosing celibacy. City answers decide where Celibae opens first.
Your account: your email address, your date of birth, and your password, which is stored only as a salted cryptographic hash. We cannot read your password. Date of birth exists for one reason: Celibae is 18+ only, and the gate is real.
Your profile: your first name, city, gender, who you are looking to meet, your reason for choosing celibacy, your short bio, and your profile photo. Your reason, name, city, bio, and photo are shown to other members by design. That is the room you joined.
Your activity: likes, passes, matches, blocks, reports you file, and the messages you send inside matches. Messages are kept so your conversations exist when you come back.
Technical basics: when you use the service, our host sees your network (IP) address. We use it for security, including slowing down repeated failed sign ins and sign up floods. Sign in sessions last up to 30 days on your device.
A word about the reason question. Your reason for choosing celibacy can touch faith and beliefs. We treat it with care: it is collected because matching on a shared reason is the point of the service, it is shown on your profile because you chose to share it with the room, and it is never sold or used for advertising.
3. How we use it
- To run the service: accounts, profiles, discovery, matches, and messaging.
- To keep the room real: every profile photo is reviewed by a person before it appears, and reports are reviewed by people.
- To keep people safe: reviewing reported profiles and conversations, enforcing the community rules, and preventing abuse and fraud.
- To open cities in the right order, using waitlist city counts.
- To send service email, such as your waitlist confirmation and your invite when your city opens. We do not send marketing email you did not ask for.
4. Who sees what
- Other members see your public profile: first name, city, gender, reason, bio, and approved photo. They never see your email, your date of birth, or your password data.
- Your match sees the messages you send them.
- Our small review team sees photos awaiting review and the content involved in a report, only for review.
- Service providers who host and store the service (currently Cloudflare) process data on our instructions so the service can run.
- Authorities, if the law requires it or to respond to a genuine safety threat.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. If that ever changes, this policy changes first and you will be told.
5. How long we keep it
- Account and profile information is kept while your account is active.
- A match keeps at most its 500 most recent messages; older messages roll off automatically.
- A photo a reviewer rejects is deleted at review time. It is not kept.
- Sign in sessions expire after 30 days. Security rate counters expire within their short windows.
- Waitlist information is kept until invites for your city have gone out and a reasonable period after, so your place in line can be honoured.
- When you delete your account, your account, profile, photo, matches, and messages are removed, as described below.
6. Your choices and rights
- You can see and correct most of your information in your profile tab at any time.
- You can delete your account at any time from your profile tab, without asking anyone. Deletion removes your account, profile, photo, sessions, likes, passes, blocks, matches, and conversations.
- Depending on your state, you may hold rights to know what we hold about you, to receive a copy, and to have it deleted. Deleting your account in the app exercises most of these directly. For anything else, contact us at [email protected] and we will answer within the time your state's law requires.
[COUNSEL TO CONFIRM: state privacy law applicability and thresholds, including California, and the exact rights wording for launch states.]
7. Cookies and tracking
The Celibae app keeps your sign in token in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in. That is the only storage the app sets. Our pages load a font from Google Fonts, which means your browser asks Google for that font file; we do not use that for tracking. We run no advertising cookies, no analytics trackers, and no social media pixels today. If we add analytics later, this section is updated first, and any consent your law requires will be asked for then.
8. Security, honestly
Passwords are stored as salted hashes, sessions are stored hashed, photos pass human review, and access to member data inside our systems is limited to the small team that runs the service. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach ever exposes personal information, we will notify affected members and regulators as the law requires.
[OPERATIONS NOTE FOR COUNSEL: confirm the written breach response steps and the notification contacts before launch.]
9. Adults only
Celibae is for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, it is removed.
10. Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date above and, for material changes, tell members inside the service or by email before the change takes effect. Questions about privacy: [email protected].
